What's so special about Klangsalon?

sustainable?

We try to reconcile the somewhat cumbersome concept of sustainability in its 3 dimensions: social sustainability, ecological sustainability and economic sustainability are goals that are linked and balanced together.

Music schools like Klangsalon, based in the green city of Solingen, make an enormous contribution to a livable world and a peaceful, democratic society. Lifelong learning, quality education, and health are guiding principles of the 2030 Agenda, which has been agreed upon by the UN, European states, the German federal government, and local and state governments.

Those who actively learn a musical instrument and make music together with others in a team make the world a little bit better and live and have a lasting impact!

Sustainability is, of course, also an attitude: Klangsalon owner Sabine Charlotte Langen (pictured left at the stage piano) and Klangsalon music instructors like guitarist Leo Henrichs live this principle. The picture shows our interactive booth at the "Music in the Garden" event at Waldhof Hackhausen in Solingen in June 2023. The piano, by the way, comes from GEWA, a German musical instrument manufacturer with a sustainability strategy.

About Us

Social sustainability at Klangsalon:

  • Our accessible musical programs motivate even people without prior musical knowledge to learn an instrument. The Klangsalon method, "Colors instead of Notes," overcomes language barriers and thus promotes integration.

  • The quick successes experienced in the Klangsalon music training sessions promote a good mood, health & team spirit.

  • A fair and open approach to customers, students, and cooperation partners contributes to a more peaceful coexistence. For example, Klangsalon does not have automatic contract renewals.

  • We place great emphasis on making music together and regularly organize community events. In the Klangsalon (Sound Salon), people of all ages, from 6 to 86, meet and learn from each other – thus, the music school becomes a social meeting place for all generations.

  • The Klangsalon music school is an active member of the Federal Association of Independent Music Schools e.V. Together, we are committed to promoting diversity in our democratically organized society.

Economic sustainability at Klangsalon:

Klangsalon Music School & Team Event Agency is economically sustainable. Unlike municipal music schools, we receive no government funding. We have been in business since 2009, Sabine Charlotte Langen is the owner, and we want to continue to thrive in the market and make the world a little better through music with our offerings and services.

We calculate our prices for private clients and corporate events in such a way that we can generate a profit and live off our fees.

By the way: We want to grow and are looking for music trainers to join us in creating enthusiastic customers and company teams.

Keynote speeches & sustainability workshops for music schools

Leaders develop a guide for a sustainable music school

Sabine Charlotte Langen, owner of Klangsalon, gave a keynote speech on sustainability at the symposium of the Federal Association of Independent Music Schools in Berlin in April 2023.

In their workshop, "Guidelines for Sustainable Music Schools," music school directors exchanged information about what they have already implemented in their own schools regarding sustainability and what they plan to do in the future. A concrete guideline for successful sustainable music school management was presented, discussed by the directors, and further developed for their own schools.

Martin H. Schmidt, head of the Brand music school in Aachen, takes away many stimulating ideas from the two-day bdfm symposium and is already developing a catalog of measures that he wants to implement next year: "The keynote speech and workshop have sparked enthusiasm among us," he reports after the workshop.
